measuring time

The d-rune derives its name from the Norse god of the daytime (Dag), son of Delling, god of twilight. In so many cultures, the "day" is conceived as coming after, or being birthed from, the "night".

Called Daeg in the Anglo-Saxon rune poem, the rune gets its name from the reconstructed Proto-Germanic, dagaz. There are no instances of this rune in records from the time of the Elder Futhark.

What is daytime, as opposed to night? It's the awake time, the conscious hours, the time of light, activity, growth.
